Purpose : Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a common cause of a wide rage of upper and lower respiratory tract infections, especially in children and young adults. Routine laboratory diagnosis of M.pneumoniae infection is based mainly on serology and, to lesser extent, on cultivation.
